WHAT WE DO
Seeds of Kindness partners with local nonprofits to build meaningful connections between students and their communities. We design and coordinate one age-appropriate activity per grade each year, from PreK through 12th grade, ensuring experiences align with students’ developmental stages. Our programs are easy for schools to implement while maximizing positive impact in the community. Through these hands-on opportunities, students experience what it feels like to help others, fostering empathy, social responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to kindness.
Earth Day
6th grade students participated in an Earth Day environmental project to raise awareness about caring for our community and the planet. Students walked to a nearby nature trail to collected trash, cleaned up the area, and planted pollinator wildflower seeds to support local wildlife.
Fundraiser
Students organized a fundraiser to help Hope & Heroes, a charity that funds life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorders in the New York region. Hope & Heroes underwrites cutting-edge research and innovative care, giving children their best chance to lead healthy lives.
Since its inception, Hope & Heroes has supported programs and services for patients and their families, and underwritten medical and academic research, ensuring the work of the most highly qualified pediatric oncologists in the long term. Now they work with seven hospitals, sharing research and ideas, to advance work toward treating and curing pediatric cancers.
Doll Drive, Colaboration, Sale
10th grade students worked together with Yes She Can – Job Skills for Women with Autism. They organized a doll drive and collaborated with trainees to refurbish dolls. At a school event students sold the refurbished dolls and accessories. All profits were donated to Yes She Can.
Planting flowers and Visit
Kindergarten students planted flowers in small pots and visited a nursing home to deliver them to the residents. During their visit, they also participated in arts and crafts activities and sang songs for the residents, creating a joyful and meaningful intergenerational experience.
Food Drive and Pantry Work
7th grade students organized a food drive and later visited the Harrison Food Pantry, where they helped sort donations, organize food supplies, and prepare groceries for families in need.
Board Games and Dancing
9th grade students visited The Bristal. The Bristal Assisted Living is a senior living community that provides housing, care, and social activities for older adults who may need help with daily living.
They started playing board games or coloring and ended up dancing and singing.
Window Decoration
Pre-K students created window decorations for the children’s section at White Plains Hospital, bringing color and joy to young patients while learning the importance of kindness and caring for others.
Holiday Cards
1st grade students created Holiday cards for the patients at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital. Burke Rehabilitation® is a nationally recognized and accredited not-for-profit healthcare provider specializing in rehabilitation treatment, research, and graduate medical education. Burke offers a full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services to improve the quality of life for patients recovering from illness, injury, and chronic conditions.
Fundraiser
11th grade students organized a pickleball tournament to raise funds to support Qualitas of Life Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides financial education to Hispanic individuals and their families, in order to foster their financial security and improve their standard of living.
Kindness Rocks
2nd grade students created Kindness Rocks for the residents at The Bristal. The Bristal Assisted Living is a senior living community that provides housing, care, and social activities for older adults who may need help with daily living.
Pillow Cases
5th grade students participated in a service project in partnership with Abbott House, where they decorated pillowcases for children in need. Through this hands-on activity, students created personalized and thoughtful designs, providing comfort and a sense of care to the recipients while learning the importance of empathy and giving back to their community.
Abbott House is a nonprofit child welfare organization based in New York that supports vulnerable children, youth, and families.
Food Drive
8th grade students supported Feeding Westchester by preparing breakfast bags for families in need.
Batteries Collection
3rd grade students led a Battery Collection Drive, creating posters, advocating for recycling at home, and raising awareness about safe battery disposal. All collected batteries were taken to Staples for proper recycling, and the school earned points for supplies.
Write Letters
4th grade students wrote heartfelt letters to residents of The Bristal, a senior living community. Through their messages, students shared stories, encouragement, and thoughtful questions, helping to brighten the residents’ day while building meaningful intergenerational connections. The project also encouraged students to reflect on the importance of kindness, communication, and reaching out to others with thoughtfulness and care.
